Genentech

Job Description

The Position

The Zijlstra Lab is looking for a postdoctoral fellow to pursue the analysis of extracellular vesicles (EV) that mediate tumor-host communication during tumor progression to metastatic disease. Research in the laboratory is focused on understanding the molecular and cellular underpinnings of metastatic dissemination. The lab has succeeded in merging computational and wet-lab technologies to accelerate research progress. The result is a research environment in which multiparametric and quantitative analysis of experimental systems and clinical specimens drive our emerging understanding of tumor-host interactions. This project is particularly focused on the regulation of tumor-host interaction EV and will leverage newly developed single-EV analysis developed in the Zijlstra Lab while leveraging the unique resources of Genentech to identify the mechanism of action by which EV facilitate tumor progression.

Responsibilities will include contributing to the overall research strategy, designing and conducting experiments, analyzing data, preparing and presenting research findings at meetings, leading or contributing to the writing of scientific manuscripts. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to engage peers in the emerging EV community of Genentech and leverage synergies across the collaborating laboratories.

Duration: 4 years
