Job Description

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Associate position with the Department of Mathematics at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA. The position involves research in modeling and simulation of infectious disease dynamics, and teaching one class per semester. The individual will also be responsible for writing documents, including grant reports and publications.

Required Qualifications

• PhD in Mathematics or a related field with a background in differential equations and mathematical modeling. PhD must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.
• Research in mathematical applications to biological and/or social questions
• Solid background in coding.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse team from multiple disciplines.
• Demonstrated ability or potential to lead graduate student research.
• Track record in publishing in high-impact peer-reviewed journals or conferences.
• Strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Matlab, Python or Vensim
