Part-Time Instructor - Machine Tool/CNC Technology

Job Description

THE POSITION

The Compton Community College District is now accepting applications for anticipated part-time faculty

positions to teach courses with emphasis in Machine Tool/CNC Technology.

 

  

 

Required Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Any Bachelor’s degree and 5 years full-time equivalent experience in the discipline AND any certificate or license required to do that work OR any Associate’s degree and 6 years full-time equivalent experience in the discipline and any certificate or license required to do that work OR the equivalent.

 

  • Candidates not possessing the required qualifications as stated above must complete the supplemental page of the district application and explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above OR possess a valid California community college instructor credential in appropriate subject issued prior to July 1, 1990 (per California Education Code 87355) AND have sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural disability and ethnic backgrounds of college students

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Community college teaching experience; Five (5) years or more of working in metal machining, Tool & Die, manufacturing or other related fields. Demonstrated ability to cultivate partnerships with related program industry members and advisory committees. Demonstrated ability to develop a variety of effective teaching techniques and assessment methods. Ability to engage student interest to support a variety of learning styles. Familiarity with the hiring practices and skill requirements for local manufacturing and machining industry occupations. Effective oral and written communication skills.

 

COMPENSATION

HOURLY RANGE: $39.31 - $68.83 (depending upon education and experience)

Part-time faculty members are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of class hours assigned per semester and on cumulative semesters of instruction for the District.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Part time teaching assignment(s). Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of all information provided on the employment application, credential(s), transcripts, fingerprint results, and tuberculosis examination as required. Candidates selected for employment will be required to provide verification of work authorization in the form of a passport, valid driver's license, or other equivalent identification, and social security card.
