Part-Time Instructor - American Sign Language

Job Description

THE POSITION

Compton Community College District is seeking an innovative individual whose focus is student learning for a part-time position teaching American Sign Language courses. Duties associated with the position include participation in a variety of campus and divisional activities such as faculty meetings, committee work, student activities, office hours, student learning outcomes and assessment, curriculum/instructional development and program review. Assignment may include teaching courses during day and evening hours including weekends. Selected candidates will be invited for an interview, which will include a teaching demonstration on an assigned topic.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Any Bachelor's degree and 2 years professional experience; OR

Any Associate's degree and 6 years professional experience; OR

The equivalent - Candidates not possessing the required qualifications as stated above must complete the supplemental page of the district application and explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above; AND

Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of college students, and of individuals with disabilities.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous college-level teaching experience.

 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS HOURLY RANGE: $41.28 - $72.27 (depending upon education and experience)

Part-time faculty members are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of class hours assigned per semester and on cumulative semesters of instruction for the District.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Part time teaching assignment(s). Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of all information provided on the employment application, credential(s), transcripts, fingerprint results, and tuberculosis examination as required. Candidates selected for employment will be required to provide verification of work authorization in the form of a passport, valid driver's license, or other equivalent identification, and social security card.
