Overview:

The Director, Hospital Certification Business Development (HCBD) position, is a combined sales / sales management position focused on supervising a sales team. It represents an intermediate, transitional position which supplements the day to day sales responsibilities of the Associate Director BD role with sales management responsibilities. While retaining responsibility for a discrete sales territory and the annual sales target associated with that territory, the Director HCBD is responsible for the day to day, operational management of the HCBD sales organization. Supervising a team of 4 Business Development professionals, the Director HCBD will be accountable for annual, new certification volume and revenue targets both for himself / herself and for the sales team he / she supervises. In this capacity, he / she is also responsible, in collaboration with Segment Marketing, for the implementation of annual Business Plans for all products within the franchise. The Director, HCBD, will also support the Executive Director in his primary role of strategic leadership of the Franchise related to business processes such as annual business planning and new product planning and development.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for delivering on annual initial application and revenue targets for all products within the Certification portfolio for the overall business unit and individual territory.
  • Maintains/manages assigned leads and prospects within the Department’s contact management/sales database. Ability to develop, analyze and respond to data reports within the contact management/sales database.
  • Provides technical oversight and assistance in support of the development of accreditation manuals, standards, educational programs, and other accreditation-related materials
  • Arranges, plans, and conducts external customer development meetings.
  • Collaboratively works with other Joint Commission departments and staff to respond to customer inquiries and needs.
  • Promote portfolio of Hospital Certification and Health Care Staffing products and serve as program representative at conventions, national meetings, and other external activities.
  • Collects input and identify trends from the field segments that relate to assigned certification programs.
  • Leads and/or participates in Strategic Business Unit and other internal work groups as assigned.
  • Work collaboratively with payer relations staff to develop and sustain relationships with targeted payers.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Excellent oral and written communication skills necessary to produce proposals, reports, and presentations.
  • Effective public speaking skills.
  • Able to organize and respond to complex information.
  • Self-starter, comfortable in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in a health care setting and/or a minimum of 3 years in sales, preferred in the program represented.
  • Familiarity with the field segments addressed by the program(s).
  • Anticipated travel requirements (up to 50%).
