Job Summary:

This job leads the Boys and Girls Club of Lewis County (BGCLC). BGCLC is a non-profit organization that serves school-age children in professionally led after-school programs. You will be a leader and a voice for children in a community that is deeply committed to breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty and increasing the rate of post-graduation education and career readiness.

The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the overall operation of the Club organization by providing leadership, direction, strategic planning in support of its mission and goals. Provides leadership, direction and support to the board of directors in developing organizational goals, attaining, allocating and managing resources, and establishing policies.

Leads and directs Club management and staff in carrying out the key roles and responsibilities.

You also join an active Board with the excitement of building upon the success of our first five years – you will be contributing to a legacy in the community by taking this organization from its early start-up years to a mature organization serving hundreds of kids.

You will be responsible for:

1 . Leadership. Provide leadership to the professional staff and provide leadership & direction of overall direction to the organization in fulfilling its plans, goals, objectives and youth development mission.

2. Fund Raising and Resource Development. Responsible for ensuring the club has the necessary funding it needs to operate and grow. Work in concert with the Board of Directors, staff and others to obtain and retain the resources necessary to carry out the organization's plans, goals, objectives and mission. Responsible for ensuring the club has the necessary funding it needs to operate and grow.

3 . Financial Resource Management. Responsible for protecting, managing and maximizing the organizations' financial resources in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.

4. Partnership Development. Ensure that the organization maintains a positive profile and reputation in the community. Develop and foster strategic alliances and collaborative partnerships with stake holders, community leaders, schools and member families. Provide guidance to Lewis County communities that want to organize a Boys and Girls branch. Provide assistance in identifying needs of children in the greater Lewis County area as practicable, and work closely with other non-profits and school districts to address those needs.

5. Program Development and Safety: Develop and maintain club programming that meets the organizational goals. Responsible for the physical and emotional safety of the club members and staff. Responsible for understanding and ensuring BGCLC is in compliance with all Boys & Girls Club of America membership and safety requirements.

6. Strategic Planning. Responsible for initiating a planning process and participating with the Board of Directors to create and fulfill tactical, strategic, and long term plans, goals and objectives of the organization.

7. Board of Directors. Responsible for maintaining and supporting a quality board of Directors. The composition of the Board should assure representation of the community necessary to provide direction and leadership to the organization and secure the resources necessary for the organization to fulfill its plans, goals, objectives and mission.

8. Human Resource Management. Assure the organization has appropriate staff and volunteers needed to carry out its mission.

9. Administration. Ensure maintenance of necessary technology and systems support for the successful operation of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of eight years’ experience in managing programs or operations, with at least two years in a leadership capacity supervising others; or an equivalent combination of experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs; the principles and practices of managing non-profit organizations; and resource development activities and sources of funding.
  • Leadership skills, including negotiation, problem solving, decision making, delegation.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written ability to speak effectively and persuasively to groups and individuals.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the Board of Directors, staff, community groups, and other related agencies. Advanced knowledge of asset management including financial resources and property. Experience leading successful fundraising campaigns
  • Pass a drug test and criminal background check

Pay range: $60,000-75,000 DOE
