MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Education, Counseling, or related field. Minimum of three years of experience in college advising, academic support services, success coaching, or related field. Ability to multitask, problem solve, work independently, utilize good judgment, and perform detailed tasks accurately. Willingness to accommodate requests for support outside of regular business hours on occasion, with appropriate notice.
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced degree from an accredited institution and career counselor certification. Ability to work well with the public in high pressure situations. Ability to multitask and to perform detailed tasks accurately. Strong computer skills with a focus on office applications. Supervisory and administrative leadership role in a related field.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides direct counsel and advice to students on issues related to their academic performance and personal functioning, helping students develop effective learning strategies. Assists with course registration, course and degree planning, class scheduling, and transitions associated with a student’s change of major. Oversees student academic advising and retention. Serves as a point of contact for academic advising best practices. Utilizes an effective advising model and approach that supports strong faculty-student mentoring and engagement. Researches, develops, and conducts regular professional development programs for professional and faculty advisors. Analyzes student retention and success data to identify potential barriers to student success and collaborates with faculty and staff to implement strategies to eliminate or reduce those barriers. Collaborates with offices to support campus wide student success and retention initiatives. Works with division directors and the Office of Admissions to promote transfer and CCP enrollment and degree completion. Maintains accurate records in all advising matters. Assists with the development, implementation, and assessment of annual goals and objectives for advising.

SALARY:
Salary commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, paid annual and sick leave, and the State of North Carolina Benefits Program.
