Job Summary
Position Description
The Department of Psychology and the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences (BBS) at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) is accepting applications for a Professor of Instruction in biopsychology with additional responsibilities for curriculum development and program assessment. We invite applicants with significant teaching experience in the cardiac, respiratory, and sleep contributors to mental health and wellness, as well as experience in educational assessment and outcome measurement. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in teaching at the graduate, undergraduate, and professional (e.g., clinical psychology, psychiatry, medicine) levels and with curriculum development and teaching effectiveness. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate level courses in biopsychology, sleep medicine, and systemic (e.g., cardiac, respiratory) contributions to mental health.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a PhD degree and demonstrate their commitment to excellence in teaching and assessment, which includes a strong commitment to principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. All candidates are expected to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals of diverse backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. The appointment commences August 1, 2023. A doctoral degree with postdoctoral training is required.
The Department/School
The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) is a Carnegie Tier 1 (R1) research university that is one of the fastest growing institutions in the US (#2 last year), and until our 50th anniversary last year, was ranked by Times Higher Education as the top U.S. university under the age of 50. Faculty in BBS are based on the main campus and at three research centers located in central Dallas near the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW), with which there are strong collaborative relationships. The UT Dallas BrainHealth Imaging Center, the Advanced Imaging Research Center, and other core facilities provide research infrastructure, including high field (3T) and very high field MRI (7T), MEG, PET., EEG, TMS, tDCS, eye trackers, and other physiological measurement devices. The Department of Psychology includes faculty affiliated with the Center for Children and Families, the Center for Vital Longevity, and the Center for BrainHealth. The department is home to doctoral programs in Psychology and Cognition and Neuroscience, Master’s programs in Applied Cognition and Neuroscience, Psychology, and Human Development and Early Childhood Disorders, and Bachelor’s programs in Psychology, Cognitive Science, and Child Learning and Development.

A PhD in Psychology, Biology, Physiology, Medicine, Endocrinology, or Sleep Medicine.
Previous teaching experience commensurate with the level of Full Professor and demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development, teaching effectiveness, and program assessment.
Experience teaching at graduate, undergraduate, and professional (e.g., clinical psychology, psychiatry, medicine) levels and with leadership experience in curriculum development and teaching effectiveness.
