Program Specialist - Zero Suicide Initiative

Two positions are available, one in our West Palm Beach office, and one based in St. Lucie County.

Hanley Foundation, a West Palm Beach based non-profit organization, seeks two resourceful and highly organized, Program Specialists with outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. This is a full-time position, with a generous benefits package and is available immediately. Program Specialist will spearhead the execution of QPR Suicide Prevention Trainings to community members, nonprofit agencies, school districts, and the general public to provide unbiased, evidence-based information about suicide and other therapeutic decisions, with the goal of reducing stigma about suicide, enhancing knowledge of suicide warning signs, and how to support those struggling with mental health crises. Additional education will be provided on suicidality, how to obtain mental health services, and where to refer someone who may be struggling with their mental health and suicidal ideations and/or plans. The Program Specialist will generate creative ideas to spread awareness about suicide and data supporting the need for suicide prevention trainings.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

· Host public educational events

· Lead and host in-person QPR trainings - (Question, Persuade, and Refer) Gatekeeper Training for Suicide Prevention

· Develop goals that focus on program development and ongoing program growth.

· Research available data and develop additional tools to be used for front line education of behavioral and mental health practitioners

· Design and create an ongoing database of mental and behavioral health agencies, nonprofit organizations, community members, and general businesses to target for this initiative

· Identify and prioritize populations with higher rates of suicide for extra education and support

· Investigate and develop new avenues for providing program information

· Develop scripts and talking points to utilize for various phases of contact with providers

· Develop a path to finding community “champions” who will support the efforts of educating the community about the need for suicide prevention trainings

· Compile information for status updates to leadership

· Perform other duties as assigned

· Directly interact with clinicians, law enforcement, teachers, professors, parents, and other community members to achieve program goals via face-to-face meetings

· Maintain a contact log of initial contacts, follow-ups, office visits and outcomes to be shared regularly in supervisory meetings

· Offer training materials on an on-demand platform

· Provide information for and access to program staff to assure ongoing contact as needed

· Expedite and escalate complaints and problems and obtain satisfactory and timely resolution

· Improve contact volume through direct actions with all stakeholders

· Present innovative solutions and key benefits to SEFBHN funded agencies

· Uphold the highest ethical standards and comply with all government policies and regulations

· Create evaluation methods to assess programmatic gains and identify areas for improvement and adjust as needed

· Continuously review and improve educational materials, if necessary, based on information learned in the field

· Collaborate with a team to develop and proactively execute for various project objectives

· Facilitate regular team meetings to discuss issues related to the program

· Utilize the person-centered approach to empower people with the knowledge needed to reduce suicide deaths

· Maintain an understanding of mental health industry commercial benchmarks and metrics

· Utilize technology to demonstrate educational materials and respond to community concerns/needs

· Utilize effective communication via phone, email, and WebEx, to deliver the values of the project

· Ability to utilize Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, marketing tools, territory data, and reports to successfully reach and achieve targeted goals

· Perform other duties as assigned

Education/Experience Qualifications:

· Master’s Degree preferred, or in progress, (preferably in mental health or a human service-related field) or equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience

· Minimum of two years of training, mental health, and/or customer service experience preferred

· Minimum of three years’ experience in mental health or a human service-related field preferred

· Possession of a valid driver’s license and a willingness to drive

· Bi-Lingual; Spanish or Creole preferred

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

· Superb verbal and written communication skills, including interactive public speaking and active listening skills

· Effective advocate of Hanley Foundation and its programs

· Excellent multi-tasking and time management skills

· Detail-oriented with the ability to adhere to deadlines

· Organized, creative, and able to prioritize tasks

· Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate others and build relationships with stakeholders, including staff, and customers

· Ability to work well independently with minimal oversight and as part of a team

· Ability to work with databases and spreadsheets

· Ability to display appropriate assertiveness and persistence, overcome obstacles, and create solutions to improve skills and achieve goals

· Ability to provide effective training

· Knowledge of relevant subject matter and ability to convey to others

· Proficient in Microsoft Office software, its network components, and general computer use

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

· Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

· Must be able to work extended hours, as needed, sometimes evening and weekends

· Must be able to travel locally and throughout our service area

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
