Position Qualification


Position Summary
A postdoctoral research associate position in the Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolism, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (Omaha), is available to study the contribution of obesity in modulating the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes, alcohol-induced liver disease and/or pancreatic cancer. Using pharmacological and genetic approaches, studies are carried out in animal and cell culture models.
Successful candidates will be involved in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data, presentation of data at national meetings, manuscript preparation, and grant writing.
Successful candidate:
• Must possess a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry, Physiology, or a related field.
• Should have experience in animal experiments and cell culture work, flow cytometry, molecular biology, western blot analysis, real-time PCR and immunohistochemistry, and other procedures.
• Should possess strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Should have a working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Image and Statistical analysis software.
• Should have first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals and the ability to write research papers.
Preferred experience:
• Experience with developing knock-out mouse models and performing mouse procedures.
• Candidates will have recently acquired a doctoral degree or within 1-2 years of postdoctoral experience
Strong organizational skill
Required Qualifications
