Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno, Department of Psychology is accepting applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in the Resilience Lab headed by Dr. Paul Kwon, Professor and Director of Clinical Training. The position will involve both research and clinical activities. The proportion of duties will be determined by the interests and needs of the successful applicant.

The Resilience Lab studies mechanisms that mitigate the risk of mental illness for individuals from stigmatized communities, particularly the LGBTQ+ community, and explores ways of nurturing resilience and thriving. Clinical work will include therapy, assessment, and supervision of doctoral students in the Pride Center, which serves LGBTQ+ clients under Dr. Kwon’s directorship.  Upon mutual agreement, the fellowship will be extended to a second year.


The preferred start date for this position is September 1, 2023.

Required Qualifications

A Ph.D. from an APA-accredited and/or PCSAS-accredited program in Clinical Psychology by time of appointment. The candidate must have completed an APA-accredited doctoral internship by time of appointment.

  • Completion of a doctoral degree in the appropriate discipline is required.

  • The doctoral degree must have been completed within the five years immediately preceding the first date of appointment as a postdoctoral fellow at the University.

  • The individual cannot have held previous positions in the professional ranks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience and/or interest in conducting research and clinical work focusing on LGBTQ+ individuals

  • Experience and/or interest in conducting research and clinical work focusing on other stigmatized populations, such as ethnic minority populations

  • Experience and/or interest in intersectionality when conducting research and clinical work.
