Overview

Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Patient Safety, Risk Management and Infection Control, lead, evaluate, and implement patient safety and clinical improvement initiatives in collaboration with Hospital Epidemiologist.

Responsibilities

  • Direct Infection Prevention Department and ensure visibility of patient safety and infection control programs.
  • Ensure appropriate provision of infection control services, including contract services.
  • Participate in the development and revision of infection control policies.
  • Ensure the Infection Control Manual is updated in a timely manner. Oversee and ensure infection control rounds are conducted in all sites of care.
  • Ensure infectious disease clusters and any environmental concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure continuous regulatory readiness for infection control standards. Lead hospital initiatives to improve infection prevention and control practices.
  • Collaborate closely with Institute leadership to identify patient safety risks, trends, and propose mitigation plans. Utilize data derived from safety reports and investigations to identify and prioritize improvements in collaboration with clinical and operational leadership.
  • Review and analyze safety reports for all care locations.
  • Analyze patient safety data submitted by frontline staff to identify opportunities to improve patient safety.
  • Conduct Executive Patient Safety Rounds to obtain feedback from staff regarding patient safety.
  • Provide clinical expertise in the advancement of patient safety initiatives.
  • Collaborate across the Quality and Patient Safety (QPS) Department to lead patient safety improvement projects, and root cause analyses.
  • Lead and coordinate QPS team in new site evaluations, report development and ongoing monitoring.
  • Serve as QPS point of contact for the Business Initiatives and Alliances team.
  • Lead QPS assessment and monitoring of collaborations with national and international healthcare organizations.
  • Lead quality and patient safety team in planning, operationalizing, and monitoring satellite locations.
  • May telecommute up to 3 days per week

Qualifications

  • Masters in Public Health or related.
  • Additional degree in clinical field involving patient care such as medicine, nursing, pharmacy or related.
  • 5 years’ experience in a healthcare environment in a position focused on patient safety, risk management, clinical/regulatory affairs, or quality improvement
  • Prior experience managing and leading teams.
