Job Description
The Smithsonian Institution (SI) awards graduate students and postdoctoral researchers to independently research for up to 1 year. These award programs are offered for research in residence at the museums, research institutes, and offices of the Smithsonian Institution. Open to postdoctoral scholars, predoctoral students conducting dissertation research, and graduate students conducting individual research. Predoctoral and postdoctoral fellowships are for a 3 to 12 month period and graduate fellowships are for a 10 week period.
Eligibility & Requirements
Postdoctoral: PhD awarded within the last 7 years. Predoctoral: must have all PhD requirements completed except for the dissertation. Graduate: at least one semester of graduate study completed or have completed the graduate program within the past 4 months. Applicants whose native language is not English are expected to have the ability to write and converse fluently in English. Should correspond with the applicant's proposed Smithsonian advisor(s) as the applicant prepares her or his proposal. Research proposal's grand challenge. Abstract. Time table.
