We are searching for an engaging, passionate, Staff Accountant to help lead our College during this ever-changing Community College environment.

Starting Pay Range: 44,043.00 - 55,054.00

Essential Functions:
The Staff Accountant will provide exceptional customer service to student, staff, faculty and the general public; performs routine technical accounting work; work involves performing detailed assignments in recording, classifying, examining and verifying financial records, documents and/or reports. The Staff Accountant will establish and maintain procedures and controls and will conduct internal control audits routinely.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Staff Accountant will review and research all outstanding purchase orders timely to ensure unnecessary encumbrances of funds does not exist and process an outstanding departmental purchase order report each quarter.
Responsibilities also include:
Establishing users for the College issued Citi Card, requesting new/replacement credit cards and creating purchase limits; research any misuse or fraudulent activities pertaining to the Citi Card; responsible for cancelling lost or stolen Citi Cards.
Creating and training users for the Procurement, Purchasing and P-Card requirements and working with Human Resources on ensuring all new hires are appropriately trained in the processes as necessary processing travel advances, travel reimbursements and check requests twice per month (15th and last working day) for faculty and staff including the acquisition of supporting documentation for processing.
Preparing general journal and related entries and post to the general ledger following approval
Assisting in the research of best practices for community colleges to be efficient and effective
Assisting with internal auditing and reporting of findings of misstatements
Assisting with the annual audit and provide supporting documentation as required
Assisting in the preparation of the annual operating budget
Compiling vehicle insurance additions/deletions
Assisting all sites with questions and training relating to the business office
Uploading required postings to CBC website including but not limited to check registers, grant reports, PFIA reports, annual audit reports
Preparing monthly system reconciliations for all College bank and investment accounts
other duties as assigned by the CFO.
Other Duties:
Will participate in Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) and in compliance with SACSCOC.
Will participate in College responsibilities such as Institutional Effectiveness Committee, Task Force, etc.
Travel Requirements:
Travel may be required to other sites as needed.
Environment:
Responsibilities are generally performed in an office setting with frequent interruptions and changes in the workflow/volume at various locations. Some outdoor work may be required at College sponsored events and/or activities.

Minimum qualifications:
Associates degree required in Accounting, Business or Finance with three to five years of experience in the accounting, business or finance or seven years of experience in the Accounting field without a degree. Higher education accounting experience preferred.
