Job Description

Marketing Communications Manager

Deadline for application: November 20, 2022

THE ORGANIZATION

The New Mexico Farmers’ Marketing Association (NMFMA) is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to strengthening the local food system by supporting agriculture producers and cultivating strong networks for a healthier New Mexico. We do this through programs that support public education, food access, technical assistance for producers and local food outlets, nutrition education, and advocacy.

THE POSITION

The NMFMA’s unique statewide role working across the food value chain with numerous consumer-facing and producer-supporting programs requires extensive marketing communications within all sectors of the local food system. This includes educational outreach and marketing to the public, wholesale buyers, producers, food hubs, state agencies, and policy makers. Using a variety of communication methods to inform its many audiences, the NMFMA produces printed material, websites, social media, mobile messaging, radio, television and digital advertising, promotional products, and more. Recent growth fed by new federal and state funding in several key program areas are driving the need for additional communications support. These programs include the consumer SNAP Double Up Food Bucks and FreshRx produce prescription programs that provide low-income residents with nutrition incentives to help improve food security and nutritional health, along with the New Mexico Approved Supplier Program that provides small-scale producers access to institutional purchasing through the New Mexico Grown program.

The NMFMA needs a strategic thinker who carefully considers project goals and objectives, who offers creative solutions, and who can manage the variety of processes needed to deliver final products. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio of marketing work that shows an ability to write, conceptualize, and execute a variety of projects.
