 I. STATEMENT OF RESEARCH AND SCIENTIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher with expertise in experimental cell biology and biochemistry to join our team in the study of the molecular mechanisms that underlie nutrient deficiencies, metabolic disorders, and cancer.  Under the guidance of the PI, the postdoctoral fellow is expected to work independently, design, plan, execute and analyze experiments, oversee collaborations, supervise students, manage animal models, and carry out research activities of assigned projects through completion. The postdoctoral fellow will utilize standard cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and genomic approaches as well experimentation in with whole animals. The postdoctoral fellow will meet with the PI daily and keep the PI informed of progress of experiments and research projects and provide recommendations on necessary modifications to experimental design. The fellow will also present data and findings at team and scientific meetings and seminars, prepare manuscripts, and provide support for grant proposals.  The qualified candidate will utilize molecular biology, genetic engineering and cell biology techniques, including mammalian tissue culture, genetic manipulations of cultured cells, microscopy and gene profiling approaches to characterize cell function and signal transduction pathways. 

 II. TECHNICAL SKILLS

 -Experience in molecular biology, mammalian cell culture and standard biochemical techniques is required

-Experience in protein biochemistry and biophysics is highly desirable

III. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Supervise laboratory technicians and student trainees in experimental design, execution and data analysis of a variety of projects.

IV. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

 - Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in cell biology or related discipline

- A background in cancer biology and signal transduction is highly preferred.

- The successful candidate must have strong analytical, oral and written communication skills.
