Position Description:  Apply
The High Energy Physics Division at Argonne National Laboratory has an opening for a postdoctoral fellow to conduct research on particle physics theory. We seek highly qualified candidates with interest and expertise in the intersections between HEP theory and computation, including AIML, high-performance computing, model-selection and inference methods. Of particular relevance are interests in precision studies of parton distribution functions (PDFs) and related quantities, as well as associated HEP Theory (QCD and BSM) and phenomenology. Beyond this work, postdoctoral researchers at the High Energy Physics (HEP) Division at Argonne are expected to contribute to the overall Division program through interactions with their colleagues working on theory and experiment, as well as to have a relevant impact on the US HEP program.

Argonne Particle Theory group members’ interests span several aspects of field theory and particle physics phenomenology, including QCD, collider physics, beyond the Standard Model phenomena, heavy quarkonium physics, topics in the interface of particle physics and cosmology, as well as precision PDFs and intersections in computing and particle theory.

The initial appointment will be for one year, with possibility of renewal for another two years.

The position may start as early as January 2023, with the exact date open to discussion.

Applications will be reviewed beginning December 5, 2022, and the position will remain open until filled.

Position Requirements Candidates should have a Ph.D. in physics that has been completed within the last three years. A specialization in theoretical particle physics is preferred.

Applicants should submit a Curriculum Vitae (CV) including a list of publications, a research statement, and arrange to have at least three reference letters sent through Academic Jobs Online.
