Nature of Work
The Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH) and the Department of Community and Behavioral Health has an opening for a full-time position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, Tenure Track.  
 
The Community and Behavioral Health Department in collaboration with the mHealth Impact Lab is hiring an Associate or Full Professor with expertise in substance use with experience with design, delivery and evaluation of mobile and digital health solutions, including but not limited to those delivered to diverse audiences via social media, through apps, and text messaging. The person who is selected for this position will serve in a leadership role as Director for the Applied mHealth Research Core for the mHealth Impact Lab, with responsibility for realizing our mission to cultivate and curate mobile and digital health initiatives with equitable impact. The incumbent will also teach courses related to substance use and advise graduate students in the Population Mental Health and Wellbeing MPH program within the Department of Community and Behavioral Health.  Ideally, the candidate will have expertise in teaching and mentoring students from myriad socioeconomic, racial and ethnic backgrounds and those who represent individuals with diverse gender identification and sexual orientation.
 
The successful candidate will generate and manage a rigorous research program that utilizes digital health strategies to facilitate the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of substance abuse use disorders. They will be a key leader in a school-wide initiative sponsored by the Colorado State Legislature to design and implement effective digital educational strategies addressing use of high-potency marijuana among Coloradans.  An ideal candidate will also have demonstrated capacity to engage diverse community members as partners and colleagues in the research process. The incumbent should have a strong track record as a trailblazer in substance use and digital health, and expertise in interventions to address the impacts of recreational marijuana use is strongly desired. They will have documented success in acquiring extramural funding for health-related research, and experience in leading effectiveness trials and/or implementation science studies. 
 
The Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH) is a collaborative endeavor involving CU Anschutz, Colorado State University, and the University of Northern Colorado. The ColoradoSPH is the first and only accredited school of public health in the Rocky Mountain Region, attracting top tier faculty and students from across the country, and providing vital contributions towards ensuring our region’s health and wellbeing. Examples of Work Performed

  • Identify, solicit, and implement grant-funded research and public health programs related to substance use, and mobile and digital health

  • Design research questions and analyses; write and submit manuscripts for peer review

  • Teach graduate level courses in mental health, and substance use

  • Mentor and advise population and mental health and wellbeing students

  • Contribute to the department efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Provide service to the department, school, and university through serving on committees and participating in other service activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
To be successful in this position, candidates will need the following:

  • Expertise in substance use

  • Knowledge of the field of mHealth and digital health

  • Expertise in the application of mHealth and digital health solutions to address substance use

  • Demonstrated commitment to addressing health disparities and inequities in health-related research

  • Demonstrated ability to describe mobile and digital health research methods and study outcomes in written form for scientific and lay public dissemination

  • Demonstrated ability to design and teach graduate level courses in public health

  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse coalitions of academics and community members to address public health priorities

  • Experience with and commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student body

  • Expertise in substance use, with peer reviewed publications in this field

Salary and Benefits
The salary range has been established at:
$130,000 to $160,000 for the position of Associate Professor, Tenured Track
$160,000 to $200,000 for the position of, Professor, Tenured Track.
 
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications

 
 
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
 
Associate Professor:

  • PhD or DrPH in public health, health and behavioral sciences or a related field

  • Demonstrated capacity to acquire extramural research funding

  • At least 5 peer-reviewed publications on research related to mobile and digital health

  • Two years of teaching experience in a classroom setting and/or mentorship of students

 
Professor:

  • PhD or DrPH in public health, health and behavioral sciences or a related field

  • Advanced knowledge of mobile and digital health (including social media, technology-based interventions) demonstrated by having extramural funding to support research in mobile and digital health

  • Demonstrated capacity to acquire extramural research funding as a Principal Investigator

  • Demonstrated track record of sustained extramural research funding for at least five years

  • Ten or more peer-reviewed publications on research related to mobile and digital health

  • Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of post-baccalaureate public health course work

  • At least five years of teaching experience in a classroom setting and/or mentorship of students

 
Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong research portfolio in substance research involving marijuana use

  • Experience working with mobile and digital health technology developers

  • Experience with educational campaigns related to substance use

  • Demonstrated capacity in working with diverse communities in the design and development of mobile health solutions

  • Prior experience in management and supervision of staff

  • Experience collaborating with clinician researchers on mobile health research

  • Experience in working with diverse populations as a teacher, researcher, and public health practitioner

  • Experience with and commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student body

  • Expertise in substance use, with peer reviewed publications in this field
