The Assistant Professor of Counselor Education and Supervision will teach courses in the Counseling and Human Services department, specific to the CACREP-accredited Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling program. The workload for this position requires engagement in research, teaching, and service to the department, college, and university. This position may engage in mentoring others to include graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, instructors, or lecturers.

Job Duties

The workload for this position is teaching 5 courses per academic year (2/3 teaching load; in addition to graduate counseling courses, graduate course in the Counseling and Leadership program and/or undergraduate courses in human services are also available; summer teaching opportunities may also be available); maintaining an advising caseload of graduate and undergraduate students; supervising practicum and internship students; engaging in research; and providing service to support the department, college, university and profession.

Work Location: This position is expected to be primarily in person, but may accept remote or hybrid option as necessary. 

Remote work will be available for emergency events. This will be offered based on the emergency and allowance will come from leadership and the guidelines provided at the time of the emergency.

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

What We Offer

Salary Range: $63,000 - $71,000 per academic year

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Tentative Search Timeline

  • Priority will be given to applications submitted by November 28, 2022.  However, this posting will remain open until filled.
  • The potential dates for first round interviews, via HireVue, will be the week of December 5-9, 2022.  
  • The potential dates for interviews with the supervisor and appointing authority will be the week of January 2-13, 2023.
  • The potential employee start date is August 2023.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Earned doctorate in counselor education and supervision from a CACREP-accredited program.  ABD will be considered if degree is conferred by August 15, 2023

-OR-

  • Doctorate in a closely related field (e.g., counseling psychology, marriage and family therapy) and to have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for at least a full academic year before July 1, 2013.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) or more years of experience working with children and youth, school counseling, military populations, and/or addictions/substance use counseling.
  • Independent License eligible in CO (LMFT, LAC, LPC, licensed school counselor)

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move. Employee is occasionally required to have long periods of sitting, moderate bending, and fine motor skills. Tasks may involve looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
