Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Maryland Neuroimaging Center at the University of Maryland, College Park, is seeking a part-time (50%) post baccalaureate Faculty Assistant with a Systems Administrator working title. The Center is the home for neuroimaging research at the University of Maryland (www.mnc.umd.edu). Housed in a spacious facility in the Avrum Gudelsky Building, the center was designed to foster collaboration among neuroscientists, psychologists, cognitive scientists, engineers, and physicists.

The Faculty Assistant/Systems Administrator will provide support for the Center’s computers, servers, networks, and peripherals, in addition to various software applications associated with the Siemens 3T PRISMA scanner.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, or work experience.

Experience:
Minimum of two years of a combination of Linux and Windows experience in a professional environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of operating systems and network management, including Windows and Linux system management and network/device configurations;
  • Linux-based data storage server management;
  • Script writing on both Windows and Linux systems;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Preferences:

Preferred Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical disciplines.

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and/or medical image formats / protocols (DICOM);
  • Experience with MRI peripheral equipment: eye-tracking, buttons boxes, etc.;
  • Experience with MRI scanner systems, especially Siemens.
