Summary of Position

The Academic Advisor is responsible for providing guidance and advising to students assigned to the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences Dean’s Office. Employing the Developmental Model of Academic Advising, which includes Holistic and Proactive Advising; Advisors will enable students to make informed and appropriate decisions regarding their academic path at UNH. The Advisor works closely with students to gauge their academic interests to help them pick courses and academic programs that are well suited for them. To ensure that students are on track and persisting towards graduation, the Advisor educates on the importance of and will work with students on creating an Academic Plan. The Advisor will work with and support new and transfer students, students who are undeclared, students who do not yet meet CEPS criteria, and students at risk or readmitted.

Duty/Responsibility

Academic Advising
· Maintain a current understanding of FERPA regulations.
· Utilize a Case Management approach to student advising, academic planning and registration.
· Advise students individually and/or with groups regarding academic core and departmental requirements, appropriate class selection, academic policies and procedures, and campus resources.
· Utilize My Wildcat Success (EAB Navigate) and guide students to use the platform to schedule advising appointments for either in person, zoom, phone or email.
· Maintain updated records in My Wildcat Success (including Appointment Summaries and Notes) and any internal spreadsheets or documents developed.
· Utilize and educate students about Degree Works Graduation Audit and Degree Works Academic Plans.
· Assist students with identification of short term and long term goals, as well as career plans.
· Work to position students to meet requirements for graduation within appropriate timeframe while preparing them to meet future goals.
· Advise special populations of students within scope of responsibility, such as new and transfer, undeclared, at risk, re-admitted, and any other student population determined by this office.
· Track and conduct outreach for students who have progress reports and alerts in My Wildcat Success (EAB Navigate).
· Follow and implement the Academic Standards and Advising Committee policy and procedures
· Including monitoring and using appropriate interventions for students who are on Academic Action.
· Establish Academic Planning meetings and follow up on Progress Reports and Alerts created by Faculty.
· Provide information about and refer students to appropriate campus resources, including, but not limited to, Psychological and Counseling Services, Career and Professional Success Office, Student Accessibility Services, Center for Academic Resources, and the Mathematical Assistance Center as needed.

Duty/Responsibility

Faculty Support and Training
· Attend related professional development opportunities and take part in UNH committees.
· Support Faculty Advisors and Departments in understanding academic policies and curriculum requirements to ensure students meet their educational goals.
· Assist with development and presentation of training workshops as necessary for the college.
· Attend CEPS Academic Affairs meetings, as well as other meetings and trainings pertinent to students and student success.


Duty/Responsibility

Event Support and Participation
· Provide assistance to all aspects of development and implementation of CEPS Orientations, including scheduling and programming.
· Work collaboratively with CEPS offices, New Student Programs, other Colleges and departments to produce an effective and efficient product that is a coordinated and intentional process for incoming students.
· Assist and participate in other advising and recruitment related programs and activities, including Open Houses and Accepted Students Days.
· Assist with projects and initiatives pertaining to UNH’s and CEPS’ strategic plan and goals.
