Position Summary

 

A postdoctoral position is available immediately for applicants interested in advancing research in ion channel structure, function, and role in cardiac physiology and neuroscience. The goals of this project are to understand gating mechanisms of ion channels in response to physical (electric, mechanical, ultrasonic) and chemical stimuli, identify and develop ion channel modulators, and explore how changes in ion channel function cause or treat cardiac and neurological disorders. Project work will involve collaborations with U.S. and international teams of scientists, engineers, and clinicians. Area of expertise: electrophysiology, computation biology, protein biochemistry, structure biology, animal physiology.

 

The postdoctoral researcher will have the opportunity to develop independent research projects within the lab. In addition to high-quality research facilities, career and professional development training for postdoctoral researchers is provided through the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, Career Center, Teaching Center, and campus groups.

Required Qualifications

 

Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent terminal or doctoral degree.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in any biological, physical or engineering discipline with experience in the above areas of expertise.
  • Self-motivated, independent, and collaborative.
  • Demonstrated record of achievement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to work with a multidisciplinary research team.

 

Salary Range

 

Base pay is commensurate with experience.
