The Computational Physiology Laboratory conducts research on the neurobiology of learning and olfactory sensory processing. We seek a lab manager/technician with skills in immunohistochemistry, microscopy, animal behavior, and lab management. Responsibilities include conducting and overseeing animal research studies incorporating the optical clearing of whole-mount brain tissue, light-sheet fluorescence microscopy, and behavior analysis, management of undergraduate research assistants, and routine laboratory technician duties such as maintaining inventory, preparing waste for disposal, and general laboratory maintenance.
This is a full time, fixed term appointment (one year) with the possibility of further extension. This role is 100% on campus.

   

Required Qualifications: Associate’s degree, 2 years of college coursework, or equivalent combination of education and practical experience.  Must have strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills and attention to detail, strong internal motivation, and the ability to work independently and flexibly and adapt to a busy lab research environment including faculty, postdoctoral scholars and graduate and undergraduate students.  Must be available for occasional odd hours (evenings, weekends). 

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in biology, neuroscience, or closely related field.  Experience with rodent behavioral studies, surgical dissection, tissue processing and immunohistochemistry, and some forms of fluorescence microscopy.  Experience scheduling and managing small research groups.  An intellectual interest in neuroscience.  Skills in the use of scientific software packages.
