Job Summary

Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is looking for a talented Student Services Analyst. This position will serve the Office of Student Experience and Leadership, a department that supports Experiential Learning (e.g., student leadership, service learning, co-ops), Civic Education (including Maricopa Student Government/Clubs/Orgs), Diversity/Equity/Inclusion (DEI) Programs and Events. This person will primarily lead efforts to develop, implement and coordinate DEI initiatives for the student body, embedded in SCC’s programmatic Fields of Interest.

The Student Services Analyst supports and runs all general DEI program initiatives for students, including but not limited to event management, training programs, and other special institutional and community-based projects as they relate to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The position works closely with students, faculty, and staff.

Essential Functions

45% - Program coordination: Provides leadership and coordination of all student-facing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts offered through the Office of Student Experience and Leadership. Evaluates and analyzes national, local, and campus-specific issues as well as current and relevant student demographic and outcomes data to inform decisions made and approaches taken to program development, continuation, or evolution. Coordinates activities of the service area where appropriate with interrelated activities of other programs, departments, or staff to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications. Develops, compiles, and writes communications and promotional literature for distribution, such as newsletters, brochures, or flyers; coordinates process from development through printing and distribution. Develops and facilitates DEI-related workshops, meetings, or conferences; coordinates logistics, scheduling, and participant communications. Meets departmental planning expectations (e.g., commemorative months) with an innovative, meaningful, and justice-oriented approach. Evaluates program effectiveness for continuous improvement; devises and implements evaluation methodology; analyzes results and recommends and/or takes appropriate action. Provides consultative services to management in establishing overall goals and priorities related to diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies.

45% - Direct student support: Serves as the lead/advisor for DEI-focused district initiatives (e.g., Male Empowerment Network, Women Rising, Diversity Action Council). Interacts and liaises with students, faculty, staff, and outside/community agencies in facilitating program objectives. Tracks, analyzes, and recommends supports for marginalized groups on campus. Monitors changes and provides recommendations to management for action. Researches, develops, and recommends inclusionary best practices. Collaborates with departments in improving support to marginalized students on campus within the framework of their student lifecycle. Coordinates Resource Pantry and other direct student supports/services with an innovative, meaningful, and justice-oriented approach. Operates Pantry within monitoring regulations and funding constraints, and as assigned, serves as a lead worker, assigning and monitoring the work of others.

10% - Collaborates within the department, Student Affairs, and with all divisions of the College and the District which can include attending meetings, serving on committees, and other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, sociology, business administration or related field and two (2) years (full-time equivalent) of progressively responsible student services experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.

OR

Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, sociology, business administration or related field and four (4) years (full-time equivalent) of progressively responsible student services experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.

OR

High School Diploma/GED and six (6) years (full-time equivalent) of progressively responsible student services experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs

Desired Qualifications

A. Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution (Sociology, Cultural Anthropology, Social Work, Communications, Higher Education, or related field).

B. One (1) or more years of demonstrated experience in working with students in a college setting, preferably with students from marginalized/minoritized backgrounds/identities.

C. One (1) or more years of demonstrated experience developing relevant Student Affairs programming and providing service support through a diversity/equity/inclusion lens.

D. Knowledge and understanding of social systems, principles of justice and equity, and relevance to students in higher education.

E. Proficiency with technology systems to serve students effectively in physical and online settings.

F. Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff at all levels.

Special Working Conditions

  • Travel to campus during the interview/selection process will be at the candidate's own expense.
  • Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations.
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends.
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen.
  • May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs.
