Structural and Cell Biology of the Autophagy Machinery

Job Description


National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences , Research Triangle Park, NC


Our laboratory focuses on the molecular mechanisms that control placenta development and function, with a focus on autophagy, intracellular trafficking, and hormones and extracellular vesicles secretion. Our research sits at the interface of cell, structural, and developmental biology. We use (and you will be trained in) a combination of cell biology tools such as 1-2-3-4D culture of primary trophoblasts and cell lines, multiple CRISPR and lentiviral technologies to screen and control the expression of genes in these cells, mouse models, human tissue, and advanced biochemistry and microscopy techniques.


Qualifications:

The position is open to individuals with a PhD degree. The successful applicant will be expected to lead their own projects as well as to contribute to collaborative research efforts in the laboratory and to have a strong publication record, including first author papers in peer reviewed journals. Experience with protein purification and standard cell and biochemical approaches is required.
