Job Description:

Budget Title: Postdoctoral Associate (SL-1)

Salary: $50,000 (full-time, temporary, 12-month position)

The History Department at Binghamton University invites applications for the Turovsky/Casey Family Post-Doctoral Fellow in Latin American History. This two-year post-doctoral fellowship position will contribute to the department's strengths in the history of health and medicine in Latin America. Candidates may specialize in any time period or region(s) within Latin America. The fellow will be fully integrated into the intellectual and social life of the department. The position is a 12-month appointment with an annual salary of $50,000 and a New York State comprehensive benefits package. The fellowship is a non-renewable two-year contract.

In addition to conducting independent research, the fellow will co-organize and lead a credit-bearing workshop series that will include graduate students and faculty from within and beyond our university. The fellow will also co-organize a symposium on the History of Health and Medicine. Additional teaching opportunities may be available, but are not required.

The expected start date is September 1, 2023, but candidates may be considered for a January 1, 2024 appointment.


  • A doctoral degree in History or a relevant field prior to the appointment.
  • An active research project in the history of health or medicine in Latin America
