POSITION OVERVIEW
Harbor Hope Center is seeking a Grant Writer to secure government and private foundation grants. This person will be responsible for identifying grant opportunities and then writing and submitting grants to securing funding sufficient to meet the grant strategy and goals. The grant writer will also be responsible for overseeing grant compliance. This fulltime position offers a flexible work schedule of in office and work at home hours.
Harbor Hope Center is 501C3 not for profit addressing the crisis of homeless middle school and high school students. We also serve homeless single parent families, as well as homeless aged out of foster care youth. We have created a pathway to success for students and families by providing food, clothing and shelter along with life skills training and mentoring to help them acquire the skills needed to for self-sustenance. We also work with drug counselors and treatment agencies to address the growing crisis of drug abuse that affect the homeless.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the grant-writing program of Harbor Hope Center
Manage grant compliance program.
Maintain communication with Executive Director
Manage volunteers to assist in the grant process
Report monthly on grant submissions, pipeline, and awards
DUTIES
- Develop in collaboration with the Executive Director the grant Strategic Plan.
- Identify, qualify and prioritize grant opportunities.
- Meet or exceed the goals of the grant strategy as laid out in the Strategic Plan.
- Develop and maintain an annual development calendar with grant deadlines and contacts.
- · Maintain a file of documents pertinent to the grant-writing process.
- Professionally prepare grants and oversee the awarding and compliance process.
- Ensure compliance requirements for funded grants are met.
- Establish and maintain communication with existing funding entities.
- Ensure grant providers are properly recognized and communicated with throughout the year.
- Gather or create all assets needed to generate reports and submissions for successfully funded grants.
EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent preferred but will consider combination of education and experience.
- Three years of relevant grant writing professional experience, preferably at a nonprofit organization.
SKILLS REQUIRED
Proficiency in WORD and EXCEL
Ability to write compelling narratives as part of the grant application process
SALARY AND BENEFITS
- Salary commensurate with experience

- Two weeks paid vacation, plus major holidays off beginning first year
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
