Position Highlights The University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) Office of Cancer Research Training & Education Coordination (CRTEC) seeks a Coordinator, Academic Operations to allow for expansion of its programming. Established in 2018, CRTEC's goal is to promote the development of the next generation of cancer researchers and health professionals. New programming is being developed as part of the University of Arizona Cancer Center strategic plan. The Coordinator, Academic Operations will assist with both existing CRTEC programming, and new programming, particularly in the areas of faculty development and early academic outreach. The ideal individual will have strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. The successful candidate will work well in a team environment and be able to manage independent tasks and projects. The role supports 10-15% of budget, finance, and purchasing activities for CRTEC.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Supports planning and execution of CRTEC programming.
    • Supports career development programming for postdoctoral researchers and early-stage faculty.
    • Supports educational programs for K-12 students and teachers, including preparing educational materials for outreach initiatives.
    • Supports grant-related training programs.
    • Develops communications for marketing and outreach purposes.
  • Supports efforts to assess the impact of CRTEC programming, through aggregation and evaluation of data metrics.
    • Contributes to trainee and early-stage faculty tracking efforts, including maintenance of databases and research into outcomes.
    • Maintains mentoring records for early-stage faculty.
    • Supports data reporting, including annual reports and requests for data needed for training grant applications.
    • Maintains records of evaluations from CRTEC programming.
  • Performs tasks needed for efficient operation of the CRTEC office.
    • Ensures CRTEC events are posted to UACC and university calendars.
    • Works with CRTEC team to keep Training & Education website updated.
    • Provides technical assistance for CRTEC virtual events.
  • Facilitates financial record keeping in compliance with the annual CRTEC budget and university and sponsor regulations
    • Assist with CRTEC purchasing, including inventory maintenance, purchasing card paperwork and financial awards.
    • Supports budget management and financial compliance.
    • Cross checks CRTEC records against UACC account reconciliations.
    • Assists with CRTEC team travel, including booking, purchasing and financial documentation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, in both remote and in-person settings.
  • Strong technical skills in using office/administrative tools, including high level proficiency with word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Strong record-keeping and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Ability to work independently.
Minimum Qualifications
  • One (1) year of relevant work experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
Preferred Qualifications* Experience with UA systems.
* Strong familiarity with Zoom, Slack, Outlook, Excel and Word.
