Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Project Coordinator II for the John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development. Reporting to the Director, the Research Project Coordinator II position is responsible for conducting research on the public workforce, education, and higher education system and evaluating workforce programs. Research Coordinators take on non-supervisory leadership roles on project-based research teams. The person in this role will provide guidance and leadership on various projects run through the Heldrich Center and direct part-time, administrative staff and others to complete project tasks as necessary.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Leads the development of research designs for studies and evaluations.
  • Processes, cleans, and verifies the integrity of data used for analysis.
  • Conducts and writes literature reviews.
  • Leads the development of data collection protocols and IRB materials.
  • Assists in data collection, including conducting interviews and focus groups, developing transcripts, and supporting data analysis.
  • Assists in preparing meeting agendas, meeting summaries, research briefs, and other research or evaluation project materials, producing timely and high-quality writing, tabular and visual materials for research reports and presentations.
  • Assists in research project management activities such as monitoring project budgets, preparing financial and progress reports as well as communicating with study sponsors on study progress.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement
Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility . Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine . Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in public policy, social work, education, sociology, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Two or more years of experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent verbal, writing, and analytical, organizational and attention to detail skills, computer literacy, and general Internet and electronic communication skills.
  • Sufficient experience implementing the different methods of analysis to be able to make difficult judgments about which model is the most appropriate given the data.
  • Because the position requires extensive interaction with and the delivery of oral presentations and written reports to employment, education, and higher education database stakeholders, the position requires exceptional oral and written communication skills and knowledge of these areas.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree.
  • Knowledge of and experience in analyzing employment and training, education, and/or higher education data preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with SQL databases are also preferred.
  • Skills in data visualization (e.g., R shiny; Power BI, Tableau) and knowledge of multiple programming languages or experience in Stata, R, or Python is preferred.
Equipment Utilized
  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Requires training in tools for using quantitative analysis or querying data (Stata, R, and SQL).
