Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Project Assistant for The Institute for Health, Health Care Policy, and Aging Research (IFH).The primary purpose of this position is to perform research as part of the ongoing New Jersey Population Cohort Study, as well as other funded studies. Research function include but are not limited to administering structured surveys along with other forms of data collection with community members, parents, adolescents, government officials, and others.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Manages logistics for ongoing studies, interacting with internal and external clients for exchange of information.
  • Recruitment including telephone and in-person solicitation, enrollment and data management and preparation.
  • Survey administration along the administration of optional study components including saliva sample collection.
  • Community outreach and engagement.
  • Data analysis and writing for grant proposals and publishable article. May also conduct Internet searches to obtain additional information.
  • Prepares progress reports, summary materials, and fact sheets.
  • Performs professional work requiring general knowledge and the basic application and use of concepts, theories, and terminology.

Work Arrangement
Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2023. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. COVID-19 Immunization Requirement
Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility . Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine . Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Public Health and/or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required and the ability to learn new software as needed.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to efficiently prioritize and complete workload within time constraints.
  • Experience and familiarity with community research and/or working with aging populations.
  • Requires the ability to record ad maintain data in computerized and non-computerized formats.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and organize multiple activities requiring varying and often competing deadlines.
  • Prior customer service, telephone, or field sales experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s or advanced degree
  • Up to two years relevant experience in an administrative environment/function, along with good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge and the ability to use basic spreadsheet, word-processing, and database and analytical software for data analyses, such as STATA, SAS, R, m-plus, and HLM.
  • Prior experience with qualitative and/or quantitative research in health or mental health is preferred. Specifically, preference will be given for those with prior experiences in qualitative interviewing and analysis or in quantitative data cleaning, manipulation, and analyses. Prior experience with project coordination is also preferred.
  • Fluent (read/write/speak) in Hindi, Gujarati, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, or Tagalog
  • Experience working with minority communities across New Jersey, specifically Indian, Filipino, Chinese, Dominican, Mexican, and/or Korean populations.
Equipment Utilized
  • Microsoft office products and EndNote. Quantitative software packages such as SAS, Stata, SPSS, and mixed methods/qualitative software packages such as DeDoose and NVIVO.
