Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Assistant Director (AD) for the François-Xavier Bagnoud Center – Child Health Unit of School of Nursing. The Assistant Director (AD) is a senior nursing position with administrative experience and clinical expertise in pediatric nursing, especially as it relates to child welfare. In all activities, the AD maintains the standards of nursing practice for Rutgers and supports the philosophy, goals and objectives of the Child Health Program.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • As part of the senior management team, this key position provides administrative support and assistance to the CHP Director as needed, including active and direct involvement in program development, implementation, evaluation, and short/long term strategic planning, in collaboration with Department of Children & Families (DCF)/Child Protection & Permanency (CP&P) leadership.
  • The Assistant Director also provides administrative oversight of CHP staff and leadership, as well as direction of program operations and initiatives, as assigned by the CHP Director and offers clinical guidance and expertise to CHP staff and leadership in matters of clinical practice and management.
  • The AD provides leadership and nursing expertise at a program and systems level to ensure a smooth interface between CHP and DCF systems and personnel, as well as health care planning that is consistent with the best interests of each child and with program goals, and that is within the scope of Rutgers and DCF policies, within the scope of nursing practice as defined by the New Jersey Board of Nursing, and consistent with American Academy of Pediatrics, Centers for Disease Control, and EPSDT guidelines.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement
Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility . Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine . Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or BA / BS degree in a health-related field and a master’s degree in Nursing, in an appropriate specialty area, such as pediatric, maternal/child, or family nursing required, 
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in pediatric nursing, and 2-3 years’ experience in the child welfare system.

  • Vehicle and valid New Jersey license required for statewide travel.
  • This position requires computer literacy/computer skills.

Certifications/Licenses
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
  • Current certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • This position requires computer literacy/computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Nursing / PhD.

  • This position requires standing, bending, and walking (up and down) stairs and the ability to lift 50 pounds (infants/children, records) to waist level.
