Postdoctoral Research Associate in Coupled Hydrological and Biogeochemical Modeling

Iowa State University

Job Description

Position Information:

Position Title:
Postdoctoral Research Associate in Coupled Hydrological and Biogeochemical Modeling

Appointment Type:
Post Doc/Trainee

Job Description:
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The MacroSystems Ecology Lab in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, & Organismal Biology at Iowa State University has an opening for a postdoc scholar in coupled Hydrological and Biogeochemical Modeling. We seek an individual to investigate carbon and nutrient cycling in the context of global changes using data and modeling approaches. The successful candidate will participate in an interdisciplinary research team that constrains ecosystem model simulations with lab incubations, high-frequency in-situ measurements, and long-term experimental data. The postdoc scholar is expected to independently test, improve, and implement the process-based land ecosystem models to predict carbon and nitrogen dynamics in a plant-soil-water-river continuum, including but not limited to terrestrial carbon sequestration, dissolved carbon and nitrogen leaching/loading/degassing, and Food-Water-Climate nexus under various climate and management scenarios. This position will be supported by two ongoing projects (NSF CAREER and NSF INFEWS) with an initial term of one year and possibility to renew based on performance and funding. The postdoc will be encouraged to pursue new research directions (e.g., participate in developing research proposals) and help manage the lab and interact with graduate and undergraduate students.
