The Gamma Beta Phi Society (GBP) was founded in 1964 to honor, support, and recognize individuals achieving academic distinction and is dedicated to community service. Today there are GBP chapters at over 80 institutions across the United States with over 40,000 active members making GBP a vibrant organization committed to the ideals of excellence and service.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of GBP is seeking a National Executive Director (NED). Recognizing that the NED will serve as the face of the society, the successful candidate will embody elements of a Servant Leader to serve as a role model across the organization. The NED will establish essential relationships in academia, aggressively grow membership through strengthening current chapters and establishing new ones, and attend induction ceremonies and other important functions within the community.

The NED is a full-time position that reports directly to the NEC and is responsible for strategic planning and the overall administration of the 501(c) 3 non-profit organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be the visible and engaging leader of GBP - Establish a presence at local chapter functions; Develop and deliver presentations to energize existing members and chapter advisors and recruit new ones; Plan, organize and, lead the National GBP Convention
  • Establish and implement a strategic plan for organizational growth to expand membership and quality of members’ experiences - Develop strong academic relationships with existing and new partner institutions to build brand recognition for GBP, increase the perceived value of the society, and grow the organization’s profile within academia; Strengthen existing GBP chapters by working with advisors to identify local needs, assist in planning events and activities, and promote the society to larger audiences; Establish new GBP chapters by building relationships with institutional administrators and recruiting and supporting local chapter advisors
  • Manage the GBP National Headquarters -Identify staffing needs and hire and terminate office staff in conjunction with the NEC; Enact operational and evaluation policies; Supervise office staff; Oversee day-to-day business operations including negotiating and managing contracts, securing and evaluating vendor services, and coordinating with legal advisors as needed and in consultation with the NEC; Direct GBP merchandizing and sales; Provide accurate records to the NEC including quarterly expense reports
  • Coordinating and Overseeing National Recruitment Efforts -Process the Pre-Induction Forms and work with Chapters to ensure all guidelines are met before the launch of a campaign; Processing each recruitment campaign and prepare it for the eventual launch; Oversee weekly e-mail distribution to thousands of prospective students regarding chapter eligibility and membership; Conduct weekly assessments and create weekly reports for Chapter Advisors across the country; Open and close recruitment campaigns, and manage all technical aspects of the campaign (coding, form creating, form editing, online tech support, etc.)
  • Event Planning -Plan, coordinate, implement, and assess the National Convention every two years (planning, hotel vendors, catering, budgeting, marketing/branding, travel logistics, community service projects, competitions, assessment, institutional sponsorship, etc.); Work with institutions/regions to plan their local/regional conventions during the years a National Convention is not held; Implement all logistics for the in-person NEC Meetings

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Professional work experience at a two or four-year academic institution in a professional or faculty role OR Professional work experience managing a non-profit business operation (or equivalent experiences)
  • Minimum college degree from accredited institution, preferred master’s degree or other advanced degree (i.e. Ph.D. or Ed.D.)
  • Experience with community service or service organizations
  • Experience working independently in a self-directed environment
  • Experience supervising support staff
  • Proven excellence in written and verbal communication skills with a variety of audiences
  • Proven success in strategic and analytical thinking to establish and meet long term organization goals
  • Prior success in building relationships and networking with key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated commitment to servant leadership approach

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift

Work Location: One location
