Web Announcement | Postdoctoral Research Fellow The George Mason University, Center for Spatial Information Science and Systems (CSISS) in collaboration with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Air Resources Laboratory (ARL) are seeking applicants for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Cooperative Institute of Satellite Earth System Studies (CISESS) to work with the Chemical Modeling & Emissions group at ARL in the NOAA Center for Weather & Climate Prediction (NCWCP) in College Park, MD. Responsibilities: The incumbent will perform research related to improving the modeling and parameterizations of in (sub)-canopy processes to be incorporated into NOAA weather and air quality forecast models, including the use of multi-layer forest canopy models and parameterizations, and satellite observations of vegetation/land cover. The ideal candidate will have research experience in atmosphere-biosphere interactions, but also have some experience with atmospheric chemistry and air quality modeling using models such as CMAQ, WRF-Chem, GEOS-Chem or other similar 3-D models. The selected candidate will be expected to publish results of their research in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals and make clear, professional presentations at major conferences, seminars, and other internal NOAA meetings.
