Position Qualification


Position Summary
The Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Neuroscience, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center has an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to elucidate mechanisms that contribute to heart failure in HIV infection using a humanized mouse model. The work entails generating and caring for humanized mice, infecting humanized mice with HIV, treating infected mice with anti-retroviral and other drugs, measuring and analyzing longitudinal cardiac functions (echo, EKG etc), analyzing blood and organs samples for proteins, inflammation markers using biochemical, immunohistochemical and immunofluorescence methods. Knowledge of cardiac myocyte isolation, contraction, evoked Ca2+ transients, metabolomics, proteomics and RNA sequencing advantageous. The candidate will also help train graduate students and assist with managing the day-to-day research activities in the lab. Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Pharmacology/Physiology with knowledge in assessing in vivo cardiac function (echo, EKG) as indicated by peer reviewed research publication(s).
Supplemental Qualifications
Experience preferred in generating, breeding, handling and caring for transgenic mouse colonies, standard biochemical assays including immunohistochemistry/fluorescence, Western blots, etc, and willingness to work with infectious viruses.
