Kilgore College is a two-year, comprehensive public community college with a campus in Kilgore and an extension center in Longview, Texas. With approximately 5,000 students, Kilgore College is a student-centered institution characterized by excellence in teaching and learning.

Responsibilities:

This is a nine-month faculty position reporting to the department chair of mathematics. Expectations for this position may include the following: teach in afternoons and/or evenings (non-peak times); teach dual credit classes in high schools; develop and teach web classes; develop and teach hybrid or blended classes; and use instructional technology in the classroom. An additional opportunity of teaching during the summer semesters is available, as well. Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: participation in academic advising, registration, and regular office hours. It is expected that all instructors participate in committee work, professional development activities, and student recruitment/retention activities. All full-time faculty are required to complete online course certification through the KC Faculty Innovation Center within their first year.

Minimum Qualifications:

A master’s degree or higher in mathematics with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in mathematics is required. A minimum of one (1) year experience as a college instructor and a commitment to excellence in teaching are required. Preference will be given to applicants with three or more years of college teaching and experience teaching web courses.

Salary Range & Fringe Benefits:

The nine-month salary for a new faculty member is based upon level of education, years of teaching experience, and years of related work experience. Base salaries, excluding pay for previous experience, range from $41,100 for a master’s degree to $44,100 for a doctorate. Additional overload classes are paid separately. Health, life, and income protection insurance are provided. An excellent retirement program through either the Teacher Retirement System or Optional Retirement Program and generous paid leave time are also furnished. In addition, full time employees have free use of the college’s recreational/fitness facilities and tuition scholarships are available for the employee and dependent children. Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program. As a result, employees/retirees of the college are subject to the federal Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and possibly the Government Pension Offset (GPO) laws.
