The Space Systems Center (SSC) Program Area is seeking a SWIFT (Software (SW) Integrator, Facilitator, and Tester) Project Manager for the Evolved Strategic SATCOM (ESS) program.  You will coordinate with the sponsor, project team and program manager to lead APL’s team to ensure successful DevSecOps-based software Ground system development and integration efforts. Work will include connections with multiple government and industry partners within or outside the sponsor's program depending on the project lifecycle.

Project Manager (50%)

  • Provide leadership and day-to-day management of task execution, working closely with the PM, APL’s SWIFT SW lead engineer, and the project technical team.
  • Ensure that project efforts will align with DevSecOps activities and include Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) implementation oversight, Framework (FW) concept definition, SW trade studies, concepts of test and integration, and developing of prototype mission app capabilities.
  • Work with the program financial manager and APL contracts to align project tasking with budget allocation, budget execution and the establishment of new/follow-on task assignments in coordination with the sponsor.
  • Identify and delegate prioritized technical activities to your team to solve the sponsors’ challenges.

Technical Contributor (50%)

  • Assess capabilities of Ground software systems throughout the development cycle.
  • Shepherd a Ground software testing laboratory from concept to deployment.
  • Ensure quality and technical rigor in all products delivered to stakeholders. Ensure quality APL products are delivered following the APL Quality Management processes, including developing Task Management Plans, Risk Assessments and Product Realization Plans.
  • Serve as technical leader to the SWIFT team. Mentor junior contributors to ensure technical and professional growth.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Possess a B.S. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Have 10 or more years of experience in satellite communications and ground system development
  • Have experience with DevSecOps SW development
  • Possess strong written and oral communications skills
  • Are willing and able to support periodic travel up to 25%
  • Are able to report to daily work location at the Los Angeles Field Office in El Segundo, California
  • Hold an active Secret security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.   • Have 15 or more years MILSATCOM experience
  • Possess experience and/or in-depth knowledge of the eXtended Data Rate (XDR) waveform and associated ground systems and terminals
