BACKGROUND: STEM Paths Innovation Network (SPIN) is a nonprofit offering K-12 instruction, mentoring and program development in science, technology, engineering, math and art

We are looking for a flexible instructional leader with an interest in program coordination. This person will enjoy learning and teaching students in the classroom (75%), while being flexible and creative in supporting programs (25%),

Instruction: This position provides after school and summer STEM programming at Beacon Hill, Madrona, and Maple Elementary schools. Classes include but are not limited to: Robotics, Video Game Design, 3D Printing, Minecraft, and Circuitry. SPIN will provide curriculum, technology training, and professional development. Ideal candidates will bring a desire to work with kids (ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade) and a willingness to learn. We value lived experience and a STEM background is not a requirement for this position - CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT is the key to success.

Program Coordination: This position will work with the SPIN instructional team to coordinate and execute high quality programs through inventory management, data collection and input.

This position will require in-person work at our headquarters in Renton, WA during school breaks and summer, with remote work in the mornings while classes are in session. This position reports to the SPIN Enrich Program Manager. The start date for this position is ASAP.

Compensation is $57,500/year with Health, Vision, Dental and Retirement benefits as well as generous PTO.

School Year Schedule (subject to change based on partner needs). School breaks and holidays will provide opportunities for full time Operations work.

Monday

Operations: 9am - 12pm

Planning and Instruction: 1pm - 4:30pm

Tuesday

Operations: 10am - 12pm

Planning and Instruction: 1pm - 6pm

Wednesday

Operations: 10am - 12pm

Planning and Instruction: 1pm - 6pm

Thursday

Operations: 10am - 12pm

Planning and Instruction: 1pm - 6pm

Friday

Operations: 9 gam - 12pm

Planning and Instruction: 1pm - 4:30pm

In person summer schedule (summer 2023), including setup and break down:

July - August 2023, 6 weeks of instruction and 2 weeks of training and prep, 6.5 hours/week. Exact dates and times TBD. Remaining time, full time Operations Coordinator.

REQUIREMENTS:

Instruction

  • Facilitate classes of up to 15 students in classes focused on technology enrichment
  • Attend required training and check-ins, maintain attendance and discipline records, administer and submit pre and post survey data.

Program Coordination

  • Manage and track SPIN inventory
  • Ensure supplies are accounted for prior to program usage and support deployment
  • Purchase supplies necessary for various programs and coordinate storage
  • Assist Program Managers with operational tasks of programming such as attendance records, evaluation data entry and other program-wide needs
  • Assist with set up of programs, meetings, etc. that occur in RTC Annex office space

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Comfort in working with K-5 students, especially K-1 students
  • Experience with class management and/or willingness to learn
  • Comfort with technology. Willingness to learn new subjects.
  • Organized and able to effectively use databases and MS Office and G-Suite applications
  • Experience with education programs, youth programs preferred

PREFERED SKILLS:

  • Experience working with low-income students, included but not limited to Title 1 schools, and a familiarity with the unique gifts and needs of this population
  • Experience with class and program coordination and inventory management

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to commit to the Fall and Spring schedule. Substitutes are not readily available.
  • Must be able to pass a Seattle Public Schools background check, which may include fingerprinting
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform loading and unloading of equipment
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance
