Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm

Job Summary: Under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee, The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the Ph.D. or other doctoral degree.

Additional Department Summary: The Chemical and Biological Engineering Department at The University of Alabama is seeking candidates for a Postdoctoral position. This position is available to individuals with research interests in cell biology, molecular biology, nanomedicine, and tissue engineering.

Successful candidates will hold a terminal degree in Chemical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering or Chemistry or a related field and demonstrate a record of academic achievement in research. The postdoctoral appointment will be in the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department. The College and/or the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department will establish a series of structured merit-based evaluations. Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon demonstration of research productivity.

This Post-Doc position will work with Dr. Heath Turner. and be expected to conduct research in biochemistry and bioengineering in collaboration with the department faculties and maintain departmental facilities and equipment.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or other terminal degree in Chemical or Biological Engineering or a related field.

Candidates will need to have completed their Ph.D. or have it completed by the start of employment. Skills and Knowledge: Laboratory research experience with cell culture and imaging, fabrication, and characterization of lipid vesicles/bilayers, nanoparticles, and hydrogels.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in equipment management and maintenance and animal models is preferred.
