Job Description

A Postdoctoral Associate position is available within the Amanda Morris research group to support our recently awarded National Science Foundation program. The program is focused on the preparation and photo(electro)chemical characterization of molecularly modified titania surfaces for applications in photocatalysis and quantum sciences. The project will involve the synthesis of small inorganic and organic molecules for deposition on nanocrystalline titanium dioxide. Characterization techniques such as cyclic voltammetry, UV-Vis spectroscopy, NMR, fluorescence spectroscopy (steady-state and time-resolved), and transient laser spectroscopy (femto- and nano-second absorption and nanosecond infrared) analysis will be components of the work.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in chemistry or an appropriate related field. PhD must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.
  • Experience in the synthesis and characterization of inorganic molecules and/or catalysts
  • Strong work habits and the ability to work independently as well as with a research group
  • Strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • First author research publications
  • Presentations at conferences and/or other instances of communicating research work
  • Experience with cited characterization techniques
