Job Description

Position Summary

Victoria College's Allied Health Department is hiring for a full-time, nine-month, tenure track Associate Degree Nursing Program Instructor position available January 2023.  This position is responsible for classroom and clinical instruction and evaluation in an integrated curriculum.  This position is benefits eligible.  

Starting earned monthly salary for the nine-month position is $5,447.00. The earned annual
salary is paid out over 12 months.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Team classroom teaching, supervising students in clinical practice settings and instructional labs;
  2. Assisting in curriculum evaluation and revision;
  3. Committee work, advising and counseling students;
  4. Sharing ongoing efforts to recruit and retain students;
  5. Attending meetings at other VC campuses
  6. Other duties as necessary.

Qualifications

Required

  • A minimum of a Bachelors’ Degree in Nursing with a Masters Degree in a related field and six graduate hours in nursing from an accredited college or university
  • A minimum of three years of nursing clinical experience preferably in adult medical-surgical nursing and pediatric and/or maternity nursing
  • Current unencumbered Texas Registered Professional Nursing license
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn advanced computer skills
  • On-line course development experience or willingness to learn
  • Discretionary judgment regarding confidential information
  • Ability to accomplish basic business tasks, meet deadlines, and ability to learn and interpret policies and procedures
  • Effective communication skills and ability to interact with diverse groups
Preferred
  • Bachelors and Masters’ Degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
  • Teaching experience in an Associate degree nursing program
  • Online course development experience
Unofficial transcripts required with application for all graduate level work.


Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle controls, key pads, etc.
  • Will be required to sit and reach with hands and arms
  • Will be required to stand and walk for a minimum of 6-8 hours during clinical or nursing lab (may include up to a consecutive 12 hour shift)
  • Requires some stooping, lifting and moving during patient clinical demonstrations
  • The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 15-20 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, some color vision, and the ability to adjust focus from documents to computer screen.
  • Hearing of light to moderate sound is required by this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
