Position Summary

The Communications Specialist Contractor will work at the direction of the Outreach Manager and sometimes with the full team, providing multimedia content and communication strategies. This person uses their knowledge of internet communication along with their writing expertise to collaborate with staff and volunteers in the creation and maintenance of high quality, primarily digital content that support the needs of the stakeholders for CRCSTL. The person in this role combines marketing expertise with knowledge of content creation for sharing via social media, our website and printed materials.

Areas of Responsibility

Responsibilities for this role can include:

  • Writing and designing original content for CRCSTL’s website, social media accounts, and physical distribution (e.g., brochures, posters, flyers),
  • Creating and publishing a bi-monthly newsletter that reflects CRCSTL’s mission and updates,
  • Tracking metrics and engagement and reporting metrics to CRCSTL staff,
  • Designing an Annual Impact Report for CRCSTL,
  • Writing press releases as needed, and
  • Other duties as requested.

Professional Qualifications

The ideal candidate would possess the following:

  • Experience working with people from diverse cultural, racial and socioeconomic backgrounds, including a commitment to equity and justice;
  • Strong experience with graphic design, content creation, social media platforms, and Power Point;
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Google Suite, Squarespace, and Hootsuite;
  • Comfort working in a small but growing non-profit (previous non-profit marketing experience a plus);
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills;
  • Organizational and time management skills;
  • Ability to take critique and work with a cooperative/collaborating environment; and
  • Written and spoken communication skills.

Compensation

$30 per hour/60 hours per month maximum. As a contractor, no benefits are provided.

About Conflict Resolution Center

The Conflict Resolution Center – St. Louis (CRCSTL) empowers people to resolve conflict through accessible mediation, coaching, and education. We aim to be a leader in promoting peaceful, lasting and effective solutions to conflict in St. Louis and the surrounding area, primarily through the facilitation and education of our mediation services. CRCSTL mediates conflicts between city employees and/or their supervisors, neighbors, civilians and the police, as well as other conflicts in St. Louis. We are committed to resolving disputes in the region, including cases with and without pending legal matters.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract, Temporary

Pay: $30.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • On call
  • Self-determined schedule
