About this Opportunity | Project Brilliance, located at Ball State University, is seeking a full-time, Post-Doctoral Fellow in Educational Psychology to support a 5-year, federally funded grant. The primary purpose of Project Brilliance is to design, pilot, and implement new assessments and programs for elementary students from traditionally marginalized backgrounds. This project will identify and develop students’ creativity, leadership, and performing talents while also providing reading and language arts support. Given our multi-institution, interdisciplinary partnerships, this position provides excellent training and career development opportunities in the areas of gifted and talent development, educational psychology, school psychology, special education, and theater education. The post-doctoral fellowship will begin January 2023 (or earlier depending on candidate availability). The position is grant funded. The individual hired will have an at-will assignment and will be reviewed for continuation before the end of each grant year (August 31). |

Position Function | Primary responsibilities include leading a team of graduate and undergraduate students, managing project tasks, organizing data collection, and supporting the design and implementation of new assessments and programs. Candidates should be able to work on site (i.e., Ball State University campus, school district partners) multiple days per week. The postdoctoral fellow will have opportunities to develop their skills in assessment and intervention for students with diverse skills and abilities, grant writing, and qualitative and quantitative research. The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with mentors to create an individualized development plan to ensure that their fellowship experience is aligned with their interests and career goals. The fellow will have many mentored opportunities to propose secondary research questions within the project and disseminate the project’s research findings (e.g., peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations). The position is grant funded. The individual hired will have an at-will assignment and will be reviewed for continuation before the end of each grant year (August 31). |
Minimum Education | Doctorate (PhD) in psychology, education, program evaluation, or a related field. |
Minimum Experience | Experience with presenting at a professional conference or publishing peer-review manuscripts. |

Preferred Experience | 1. Specialization or demonstrated interest in the study of creativity, leadership, special education, giftedness, and/or performing arts. 2. Excellent scholarly communication skills as demonstrated through publications and/or presentations. 3. Strong project management skills. 4.Excellent quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis skills. 5.Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain partnerships with school communities (educators, students, families). 6. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. 7. Experience leading arts-based, after-school programs. 8. Experience working with elementary students. |
