Job Description:

The Department of Veterinary Technology seeks a highly motivated candidate to teach courses in veterinary technology.  In addition to a teaching load of 15 contact hours per semester, the candidate will maintain a minimum of 5 office hours per week.  Participation in the continued development of this department as well as program review to ensure maintenance of accreditation of the program with the AVMA, establishment of appropriate clinical partnerships, and effective recruiting to expand the program is expected.  Participation in departmental, college and appropriate professional activities is expected.  Innovative and knowledgeable individuals with demonstrated experience in instructional technology, distance learning, and entrepreneurial approaches to course and program development are encouraged to apply.  The successful candidate will be a Licensed Veterinary Technician in the State of NY.


Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  The Instructor of Veterinary Technology (Tenure Track) must possess a Master's degree plus a current license as a veterinary technician in New York State with a minimum of one year of experience as a veterinary technician in a clinical or research setting.  The ideal candidate should have a thorough knowledge of clinical veterinary technology with strong organizational and communication skills. All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Three or more years of experience as a veterinary technician in a clinical or research setting is strongly preferred. A minimum of one year of teaching experience with familiarity with CVTEA requirements is essential.


Additional Information:

SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $66,144 plus excellent benefits. 

POSITION EFFECTIVE:  Spring 2023.
