Habla Con Tu Hermana Program Manager is a full-time position located in the Rio Grande Valley - serving the Harlingen & Brownsville, TX area.

POSTION SUMMARY :

Manages the Habla Con Tu Hermana program and patient navigation efforts for Planned Parenthood South Texas. Management duties include serving as chief educator and trainer for the program, establishing collaborations with community organizations to deliver the Habla Con Tu Hermana program, training Patient Navigators / CHWs who amplify the reach of the program by teaching groups of women in their neighborhoods, solidifying and expanding “splash zone” territories in our service delivery area, conducting regular curriculum review along with rigorous evaluation, and creating progress reports and strategic work plans to enhance the program. In consultation with the Sr. Vice President & COO and Associate VP for Operations & Growth leads multiple marketing and promotional activities such as “Clinica Festival” that brand the Habla Con Tu Hermana program as the premier community education model to reach uninsured, hard-to-reach Latina women. On occasion, provides other education programs such as youth and college outreach. Serves as one of the agency’s bilingual spokespersons. Provides professional trainings on matters related to sexual health and responsibility. Occasionally provides trainings to staff as well as participates in various committees outside and within Planned Parenthood South Texas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Manages the Habla Con Tu Hermana program in a way that supports a standard for the delivery of health education and outreach that is characterized by professionalism, accuracy, and respect for the client.
2. Serves as chief educator and trainer for the Habla Con Tu Hermanaprogram, providing culturally competent, language and age appropriate family planning and sexual health education to community members and organizations.
3. Supervises a network of Patient Navigators / CHWs in their delivery of health education and respective program goals.
4. Maintains and grows various education sites for the program called “splash zones,” i.e. territories in Planned Parenthood’s service delivery areas in the valley.
5. Manages “Clinica Festival” events, which are designed to secure a referral pathway that generates patient appointment bookings at Planned Parenthood clinics as well as positive earned media in the community.
6. Supports marketing and health promotion initiatives to increase patient volume and clinic revenue by working in concert with the Health Care Operations Department to establish referral pathways to Planned Parenthood for outreach audiences.
7. Conducts a referral and follow-up system by:
a. Consistently monitoring and reporting referrals from the project’s tracking system
b. Setting appointments for patients using the EMR database, in compliance with PP protocol.
c. Following up on missed appointments in the patient portal according to PP protocol.
8. Develops curricula and conducts regular curriculum review to ensure program content is accurate, up-to-date and science-based.
9. In consultation with the Sr. VP & COO and the Associate VP for Operations & Growth conducts program evaluation to include both quantitative and qualitative methods.
10. Produces regular programmatic reports and assists with grant proposals and audits related to the Habla Con Tu Hermana program and with other education projects, as requested.
11. On occasion, delivers other community health education to youth and adults focused on sexual health and family planning as well as other issues related to Planned Parenthood’s mission.
12. Documents Habla Con Tu Hermana curriculum sources both in hard copy and electronic formats and keeps this information updated on a quarterly basis.
13. Develops relationships with organizations that serve the client profile of Planned Parenthood and provides staff and clients of those organizations with information about services and community health education programs at Planned Parenthood.
14. Provides training and management of volunteers who are working with health promotion and outreach efforts in the valley.
15. Regularly tracks educational / health promotional activities and produces program reports in a timely manner.
16. As needed, provides Planned Parenthood staff training or professional training to the community on matters related to sexual health and family planning.
17. At the agency’s discretion, serves as a bilingual spokesperson for Planned Parenthood.
18. Responds to requests for health education / training made via telephone, Internet and in person.
19. Manages event preparation for select education programs and trainings.
20. Keeps current regarding the content of sexual and reproductive health issues and the methodologies of community health education.
21. Attends meetings and serves on committees both within Planned Parenthood and with other community-based organizations.
22. Performs other community education programs and related duties as assigned.
23. Complies with the Agency’s House Rules, which are a required part of orientation, training and performance standards.
QUALIFICATIONS :

Education : A bachelor’s degree is preferred. Degrees in the areas of public health, health education, social work, counseling, social/policy sciences, or related fields are preferred. Significant (five or more years) of community education can be substituted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree. Bilingual (Spanish & English) – oral and written – is required.
Experience : Experience in delivering community health education presentations on topics such as family planning and women’s health is required. Public speaking experience is required. Experience in adolescent issues and advocacy related to women’s health issues and comprehensive sex education is preferred.

  • Ability to proficiently utilize and train others in the use of Athena EHR system.
  • Demonstrate great attention to detail.
  • Access to own personal, reliable transportation to arrive to designated work location on time.
  • Sensitive and competent regarding issues of multiculturalism.
  • Comfortable with issues of sexual and reproductive health.
  • Able and willing to work for an Agency that supports a patient’s right to make personal decisions regarding health care including their right to choose what option is best for them if faced with an unintended pregnancy.
