Classified Management Range 24 (Exempt)
Hiring Salary Range: $66,313-$70,352
Full Salary Range: $66,313-$86,524

Position Duties
Summary
The Director of Residential Living and Student Activities is responsible for the quality and administration of the residential living program and student activities.
 
Distinguishing Characteristics
Provide leadership in the areas of management of residence halls, student activities and organization, opportunities for student involvement, leadership and participation, hiring and supervision of staff, maintenance of order and discipline in the residence halls.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide overall management and supervision of residence halls.
• Assist in development and management of the annual residential living budgets.
• Develop and maintain a schedule of supervision for the residence halls.
• Direct the work of and assign responsibility to residence advisors and other staff.
• Participate in local, regional, and state activities to promote West Hills College Coalinga.
• Monitor residence hall security, lock and unlock buildings, report all damage, vandalism and any other repairs as needed.
• Maintain files and records, prepare reports as required.
• Select, train, supervise, and evaluate assigned staff.
• Provide direction and assistance in emergency situations.
• Under general direction, plan and coordinate cultural, social, and recreational activities for students; assure compliance with established rules and policies, assure proper set up for meetings and special events including Student Center activities and club events. Develop and coordinate special activities such as the student government social activities, club projects, and other related activities as assigned.
• Serve as an advisor to the Associated Student Body.  Direct and oversee student body government administration, business, budgeting and scheduling functions; oversee the preparation and control of the ASB budget and monitor purchase order requests and expenditures.
• Supervise and direct student activities and functions; provide information and assistance to ASB and club members as needed.
• Plan, coordinate and supervise the preparation and dissemination of publications related to student clubs, activities, and affairs to students, staff and the community.
• Edit flyers, posters, literature and other materials prepared by student groups for on and off-campus distribution. Implement and oversee processes for posting/ distributing of materials on campus as requested.
• Maintain an electronic master calendar of events and facility use.
• Manage and coordinate overall campus security.
• Supervise and evaluate campus security personnel.
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Requires a working knowledge of the budget preparation, fiscal management, and cost analysis. Demonstrate an understanding of principles and practices of residence halls and management. Demonstrate an understanding of the college age individual, behavior and control.  Incumbent must be responsive to the needs of our college’s diverse population. Knowledge of health and safety regulations. Knowledge of basic first aid procedures. Requires to ability to interpret highly technical materials for students and staff members. Demonstrate the ability to appropriately interact with a diverse population to include students, staff faculty and the public. Demonstrate the ability to communicate with individuals for who English is not a primary language. Demonstrate the ability to deal calmly and rationally with irate or upset individuals. Requires the ability to write and prepare reports and handbooks. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully in both oral and written form. Ability to advise, support, and coordinate the operation of various student organization activities. Ability to learn and apply college and district policies and procedures.
 
Working Conditions
Position requires on campus living within the Residence Halls. An on-site apartment and all meals are provided at no cost. Work is generally performed indoors where minimal safety considerations exist.
 
Qualification
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree and two years’ experience working in student housing programs and services.

Licenses and Certificates
California Drivers License is required. Current first aid and CPR certifications required.
