Job Summary:

The Northeastern University Fellowship Program provides a dynamic academic environment offering fellows the opportunity for a wide breadth of experiences:

  • Develop teaching skills through participation in our Teaching and Learning Seminar series
  • Facilitate small and large group didactic education in partnership with a faculty mentor
  • Utilize a layered learning model in experiential education by co-precepting students on pharmacy practice experiences including Northeastern’s unique co-op program
  • Create, present, and publish scholarly research through collaborative industry and university relationships
  • Engage with faculty who participate in various interdisciplinary graduate programs including biotechnology, nanomedicine, immunology, health informatics, and drug discovery
  • Network with area residents and other Northeastern fellows via professional development programs, teaching seminars, and participation on fellowship committees

Global Medical Affairs

Pharmacy Postdoctoral Fellow – Global Medical Affairs Post-Doctoral PharmD Fellowship with Vertex Pharmaceuticals & Northeastern University for 2023-2025 (2 Years). During the program, fellows will work collaboratively and cross-functionally within Vertex's Global Medical Affairs (GMA) group across Global Scientific Communications and Global Medical Information. The fellows will also have the opportunity to rotate to an elective of their choice.


Responsibilities:
Core Rotation: Global Medical Information Primary Objectives

  • Utilize clinical expertise to develop timely, accurate, and scientifically balanced responses to unsolicited medical information inquiries
  • Develop standard and custom medical response documents and FAQs for Vertex marketed and investigational products and relevant disease related topics.
  • Provide guidance and direction for handling inquiries received by the Medical Information Call Center (MIC)
  • Review medical inquiries, adverse events, and product complaints received by the MIC to ensure quality, accuracy and to identify inquiry trends
  • Participate in or lead various department projects and assist in the development of departmental procedural guidelines and standard operating procedures

Core Rotation: Global Scientific Communications Primary Objectives

  • Gain in-depth knowledge of disease epidemiology, current and future products, and competitor information
  • Develop scientific communications materials, including slide decks, training memos, and medical guidance documents for field team use
  • Support the development of disease state communication strategy, including Global Scientific Platform, Lexicon, and Scientific Narrative
  • Understand development and execution of strategic publications plan and ensure compliance with Good Publications Practices (GPP)
  • Represent Global Medical Affairs in cross-functional disease and brand medical teams
  • Work collaboratively across matrix teams to prepare for regional and international conferences


Qualifications:
 

Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited institution, eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Massachusetts.

Excellent oral and written communication, time management, and leadership skills, ability to work independently and take initiative on a variety of projects at Vertex and Northeastern.
