Madisonville Community College is inviting applications and nominations for the position of Dean of Student Affairs. The College seeks a forward-thinking leader who will advance the College’s mission of access and success for students in the five-county service region. Madisonville Community College is one of 16 colleges in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System.
Job Location:
Madisonville Community College is centrally located along the I-69 corridor in beautiful rural Western Kentucky, with easy access to Evansville, Indiana; Owensboro; Hopkinsville; and Nashville, Tennessee. MCC has four campuses and serves Hopkins, Muhlenberg, Caldwell, Webster, and Crittenden Counties.
Job Summary:
Provides leadership and oversight management to the following areas: counseling services, accessibility services, veteran’s services, intervention services, student life and activities, tutoring support services, student orientation, outreach grant programs such as SSS TRIO and Ready to Work, and other student support services.
- Oversees department supervisors and/or employees in achieving their department’s goals and objectives to support the institution’s strategic plan.
- Attends and participates in departmental, institutional and system meetings.
- Coordinates departmental and institutional planning that requires the establishment of goals and objectives and the determination of the resources needed to fulfill both.
- Develops, analyzes and improves departmental processes that pertain to the delivery of services to potential and existing students as well as faculty and staff.
- Collaborates with community partners to provide support and resources for students and the institution.
- Assists students individually on matters such as student issues related to admission, financial aid, academics or student code of conduct violations.
- Oversees student organizations such as the Student Government Association, Phi Theta Kappa, and other student organizations.
- Serves as the chief student advocate during student academic appeals.
- Oversees departmental budgets.
- Oversees student life and special outreach projects.
- Chairs the Behavior Intervention Team.
- Possesses working knowledge of resources and referral information along with crisis intervention experience.
- Oversees MCC Food Pantry and the MCC Emergency Fund.
- Works collaboratively with administration and departments across the institution to encourage student engagement and retention.
- Coordinates and implements activities, programs, services and events that contribute to increased student engagement and student success.
- Works collaboratively with the Dean of Enrollment to maximize student persistence and retention.
- Uses technology tools, such as Starfish Support Services and Signal Vine, to support student communication and success.
- Master’s Degree
- Minimum 3 years student services experience or other relevant work experience.
- Minimum 3 years supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated highly collaborative and student-centered approach to past positions.
- Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Enthusiastic, independent, and self-motivated personality able to work in a changing environment.
