The Department of Health Law, Policy, and Management at Boston University School of Public Health is seeking a full-time (40 hours/week) Post-Doctoral Associate to lead and support research activities on a study funded by the National Cancer Institute focused on tobacco regulatory science and health communication. The position will be supervised by Dr. Jennifer Cornacchione Ross.

This Post-Doctoral position provides opportunities to conduct NIH-funded research and receive training in health communication, tobacco regulatory science, tobacco disparities, behavioral economics, and longitudinal surveys. There are also opportunities to work on other tobacco communication projects, including marketing and adolescent-focused research.

Training will be individualized for the postdoc to develop competencies in communication and tobacco policy research, and the fellow will have opportunities to participate in workshops and trainings and attend professional meetings and conferences. They will lead manuscripts and contribute to grant proposals.

The primary responsibilities will include supporting project coordination and activities (25%), supporting data management and analyses (10%), leading and supporting manuscript writing and grant writing (25%), and leading other independent research and professional development activities that otherwise advances the candidate’s career (40%).

Funding for this position exists through April 2024 with the possibility for continued funding.

Qualifications

• Experience leading and writing peer reviewed manuscripts
• Excellent writing skills
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Self-motivated and able to work well independently, while also working well with teams
• Ability to balance multiple tasks and efficiently manage time
• Statistical software and programming skills (such as SAS, STATA, R)
• PhD or equivalent in communication, social/behavioral sciences, public health, psychology, or a related field
• Interest in tobacco regulatory science or communication
