POSITION LOCATION: On campus position located in Fort Morgan, CO

 

EMPLOYMENT SPECIFICS:

Full-Time (Exempt Professional/Technical Appointment, 260 days), 1.0FTE

 

 

PURPOSE/SUMMARY OF JOB:

The Student Life Coordinator ensures MCC students are afforded opportunities to participate in co-curricular experiences that promote a positive, engaged, and high-quality learning experience. These include facilitation and supervision of club/organizational activities, student governance organizations, and involvement opportunities that enhance the overall educational experiences of students through development of, exposure to, and participation in social, cultural, multicultural, intellectual, recreational activities, and student governance. This position supervises the Title V Mentor Program which utilizes peer mentors to help engage and support students while ensuring they connect to other campus and community services as needed to support student success. Occasional long and irregular hours necessitated by special projects, compliance with deadlines, length of the institutional day and week, and committee service. Travel as appropriate for the position.

The Student Life Coordinator shall perform all duties while promoting opportunities for inclusion, expressing the valuing of differences, and regularly demonstrating the college's commitment to the Guiding Principles.

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An Associate's degree and a minimum of two years of customer or student service experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree.
    Experience providing superior customer service.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse and/or at-risk students.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, prioritize, and effectively execute multiple initiatives, programs, and events. Able to meet established deadlines.
    Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to establish and develop productive and collegial relationships, collaboration, and communication.
  • Ability to resolve complex problems and student issues, as well as work with confidential and sensitive information and records.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and verbally. Effective public speaking skills: ability to make group educational presentations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Occasional long and irregular hours necessitated by special projects, compliance with deadlines, length of institutional day and wee, and committee service, including the ability to participate in evening and weekend commitments as necessary.
  • Ability to travel as necessary to carry out job duties.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Experience working in a community college or university setting.
  • Experience and expertise with program development, budgets, parliamentary procedure, organization, operations, and/or mentoring leadership skills.
  • Ability to speak and write fluently in Spanish.

 

 

Anticipated Start Date: November 2022

 

 

Salary and Benefits:

$40,000 to $45,688, based on education, skills and experience. Benefits include health, life, dental insurance, LTD & benefit package in accordance with Colorado Community College and Occupational Education System policies. No relocation assistance is provided.

Selection Procedure:

Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of their qualifications as related to the duties and responsibilities of the position. Final candidates will be invited to travel to the College, at their own expense, to interview with the Screening Committee and college officials.

 

 

About Morgan Community College (MCC):

MCC is one of 13 colleges comprising the Colorado Community College System (CCCS). The college has consistently been named a Great College to Work For by the Chronicle of Higher Education in the past decade.

MCC is located on I-76, 80 miles northeast of Denver and approximately 100 miles east of Rocky Mountain National Park. MCC provides high quality lower division transferable courses and occupational education culminating in a variety of certificate, associate, and baccalaureate degree programs through traditional, innovative, and non-traditional delivery methods to an 11,500 square mile service area in eastern Colorado.

The College serves this vast, rural, agricultural area from its main campus in Fort Morgan and through three regional locations Limon, Burlington and Wray. These locations are 75 to 150 miles from the campus in Fort Morgan.
